I should mention that Enrique speaks basically fluent English. I
asked how he learned to speak so well, and he told me that while he
was attending medical school in Guadalajara, he happened to be in the
same study group as a couple of American boys, who where also there at
the time. The Americans were highly motivated to learn Spanish, so
that they could have something more to say to their Mexican
girlfriends than just como estas and gracias, so they agreed to only
speak Spanish in front of Enrique, and he would only speak English in
front of them. They all agreed to be kind about each others mistakes,
and shortly thereafter, Enrique lost his fear of talking out loud, and
quickly got to the point where he was no longer translating as he was
speaking, but developing a real fluency. Since then, he reads as much
as he can in English, and almost half of his current patients are
Americans or Canadians, so he gets to practice a lot.
Enrique's new MRI lab is called RESOMAZ (RESONANCIA MAGNETICA DE
MAZATLAN), and is located at Plaza las Conchas, number 17. This is
the small professional center, just across the street from the Sharp
hospital and also across the stree from Sam's club. His phone number
there is 986-6122 or 986-6684, and the office hours are from 7 am to 7
pm. You can also reach him via email at emock@resomaz.com and on the web
at http://www.resomaz.com A price
of an MRI is approximately $400 US. In addition to MRIs, his Resomaz
diagnostic center also offers X-ray, ultrasound, and soon mamograms.
Prices are $15 US for an X-ray, and $40 US for an ultrasound, and
include both the imaging and writing the report. He will be happy to
translate the report into English if you request it, for no additional
charge. Also he is in the process of working with a business manager
to make accepting foreign insurance plans easy for the visitor.

Who perform the studies?
The clinical history and physical will be performed by 2 family
physicians (depending on the gender of the patient), the lab tests and
samples will be collected by the staff of our associates from EILAB (a
leading lab in Mazatlan), the x-ray studies will be performed by
Dr.Mock s technical staff but the MRI and Ultrasound will be performed
by Dr.Mock himself. The cardiological evaluation will be performed by
Dr.Abraham Pacheco, a certified cardiologist who is also our
associate. All of our medical staff speaks English.
Is an appointment necessary? Yes indeed. Be sure that you will have at
least one morning free for sample collection, imaging studies (it
depends on the amount of studies to be performed), clinical history and
physical. The results and final report will be ready in two to three days
(depending if PAP smear or PSA levels are obtained) and another
appointment will be necessary for a full explanation of the findings,
and also to provide some advise. An English written report will be
delivered as well as the original films and lab results. We will open
a chart for you for further evaluation in the years to come.
How can I pay? We accept Visa and Mastercard, but not American
Express, so you can leave home without it, also traveler's
checks and of course dollars and pesos. If you live here and have a
Mexican account we can take a Mexican check.
Where is Resomaz?
We are conviently located just across the street from Sharp Hospital
and Sam's Club. Any taxi can bring you to us. There is a large red
Bannorte sign on the corner of Av. Rafael Buelna (the street that
Valentino's and McDonalds are on) which marks where you should turn.
Just continue around the corner until you see the Resomaz sign. We
have our own parking lot as well. A map to Resomaz is at the left.
