Many of our group have visited Dr. Tony who worked in California at Kaiser Permanente as a Reconstructive Surgeon for 14 years and then in Acapulco for 19 resorts servicing those with emergency services needed and referrals and now continues his practice for the past 12 years in Mazatlan. He speaks perfect English and is a very gentle kind person. 986-4446 is his home number.
I took that short stroll to Dr. Navarro's office and made an appointment to have my choppers cleaned...250 Pesos. That's less than $25.00! So cool!
I think Dr Eduardo Ibarra is the greatest dentist in the world! His office is at Canizales #509, 1 block south of the Mercado off Aquiles Serdan then 1/2 block east. His phone number is 981-8724.
It's Laboratorio Dental Remo-Dent. Their address is Canizales #509 (1 block south of the central market when driving south, then 1/2 block east-turn left). Their phone is (669) 982-2151 or 985-2824 (one is a fax, but I never know which one). The only catch would be if you don't speak enough Spanish. There is NO English spoken unless one of the dentists (who work in the office upstairs) who speaks English is available. I've always gone through their daughter who is a whiz-bang dentist, orthodontist and speaks good English. If you get totally stumped her name is Dra. Susanna Pedrero de la Cruz, and her phone is 981-8221.
My wife and my self had root canals done by our dentist here. He does all. I just had an extraction on a severely broken tooth last week. My wife was a Dental assistant her whole working life, and she thinks Dr Jaime Diaz is GREAT! He speaks perfect English and has all the latest equipment. Phone 983-3300. He is in the La Gran Plaza Mall local 1-32
The best Dentist I have found in Centro is Dr. Jorge Urrea Agraz . Mariano Escobedo Number 716 Interior 2 Tel. 981-02-87. He does excellent work and is very reasonable.
Dr. Alejandro Shimizu at Plaza Valencia by the DQ.
I just returned from Mazatlan last week where I had the best dental work ever, and far below US costs - Dr Miguel Estrada - he is on Camaron-Sabalo 204-13 in strip mall kitty corner from Panama Restaurant (next to Cyber Cafe). His phone (local) 914-1622. He does implants but I had bridge and tooth extracted and 4 post bridge put in.
My hubby and I have used Dr. Juan Jaime Diaz Rivas and were very pleased with both service and prices. His office is in Gran Plaza, so parking is no problem. His office number is 983-3300. And, Dr. Diaz speaks English. We definitely recommend him.
Dr. Morelos Chong 913 60 68. "Try Dr. Morelos Chong, just above Domino's Pizza. His phone number is 913 60 68 and he is aperfectionist, just what you want in a dentist. His English is great. I recommend Dr. Jose Armando Constantino phone office-9-85-37-14 he's very good...
A whole bunch of us recommend Tony Guterriez 0446699182259. Practiced in California for 14 years as a dental reconstructive surgeon and in Acapolco for many years as emergency dentist for resorts and in Mazatlan for years as well. Great person and speaks perfect English and has clean office and most up to date equipment.
We use Dr. Karl Volker who does an excellent job cleaning; more like what we are used to. He is a periodontist and located on Constitucion, 600 block I think. His phone is 981-0322. He gives a discount to FOM members of 10% and when I was in before Christmas he charged around $250MN; can't remember exactly.
Dr. Jennifer Hernandez Modern equipment, in late 20s. Cleaning was $30.00 for about 3/4 of an hr. Tel. 669-984-2987. E-mail: mailto: hernadezjenny@hotmail.com.

Dr. Estrada, Camaron Sabalo#204-13. It is located in corner of small mini-mall near Cyber Cafe in the Golden Zone. there is also a bike shop next to the office. Tele: 914-1622. I know he does root canals, and he did a four tooth bridge for me. He speaks excellent English. Good luck!
Ernesto Bertrand Morales on 5 de Mayo #1725 Telephone 6699811269 or 985 6150. I have just had a root canal done by him and am very pleased. His office is 1st class and he is extremely competent.
Dr. Alejandro Shimizu Kelly, in the Plaza Valencia building two doors from Bancomer in the Golden Zone. Phone no. 913-7101. He just did a root canal on me with a very gentle touch. And he speaks English. And he is clean, clean, clean. Plus, he plays soft music while he and his dentist-wife, Anita, work on your teeth.
DavidBodwell - 10 Mar. 2004 The dentist I recommend is Dr. Eduardo Ibarra. The phone number is 981-8724 or cell. (044-669)994-4771. If Eduardo himself doesn't answer you have to ask, in Spanish, Puedo hablar con Doctor Eduardo? (POO-AY doh/AHB lar/kohn/DOHK tohr/ay DOO-AHR doh?) No hablo espanol. (noh/AHB loh/ays pahn ÝOHL.) If they say No está or No encuentra then try later or earlier the next day. He's good and definitely doesn't gringoize prices and speaks reasonably good English. His office is at Canizales 509 Suite 3. Below, you'll see a number of terrific recommendations he has from various other patients.
I also highly recommend Dra. Susana Perero De la Cruz. She's excellent. She speaks good English. Her phone number is 981-8221 and her cell phone is (044-669)918-7643. Same address as Dr. Ibarra except Suite 5 instead of 3. She was my dentist for several years when I first came to Mazatlán, but when she went to México City for advanced training in orthodontics, she recommended Dr. Ibarra to me. I've been with him ever since even though my whole family now goes to Dra. Perero.
JackMoreau March 16, 2005 I recommend Dr. Painless. His real name is Jose Gallardo. He has a practice in El Centro with his father, Jose (senior),at #27 Melchor Ocampo which intersects Cinco de Mayo. Jose (junior) is a very astute young man who speaks excellent English, has a great sense of humour, and is very good at what he does. He is also very reasonable. I call him Dr. Painless as he is very gentle and I felt very relaxed throughout the procedure. His phone number is 985-1848.
DavidBodwell - 10 Mar. 2004 Although most expats are past the age they need or want this sort of thing they may have children or grandchildren who do need it. I highly recommend Dra. Susana Perero De la Cruz. She's excellent (and a darn good dentist to boot) and the kids (My 12 year old girl goes to her) really like her. She speaks good English. Her phone number is 981-8221 and her cell phone is (044-66-99)18-76-43. Same address as Dr. Ibarra except Suite 5 instead of 3.
DavidBodwell - 02 Dec 2003 A really good periodontist is Dr. Karl H. Dolker. He's located at Constitucion # 611 Suite # 3(just 1/2 block east of Pedro & Lola's and the Plazuela Machado), phone 981-0322. He's very good and doesn't gringoize prices. He speaks decent English. If you call the receptionist speaks only Spanish so check the listing in General Dentistry for a phonetic Spanish way to ask for him. Just substitute DOHL kayr for ay DOO-AHR doh.
I am responding to previous posts about our dental clinic, and would like to give people some more information on just what "Mexican Dental Vacation" is. Some of you in Canada may have heard my interview on Charles Adler across the Corus radio network, stations from Vancouver to Quebec. Here is a link to his website, where I am listed as an on-air guest.
We are a full-service dental clinic, located right by The Shrimp Bucket. Our dentists speak English, and are qualified to do complex cases, such as dental implants and full-mouth restorations. We have been in business for a little under 2 years, and in this time have served many satisfied customers, locally and from the U.S. and Canada.
I had come to Mazatlan in the previous years for dental work, and saw what was lacking in making a dental office in Mexico equal to one in the US or Canada, from equipment to results. My first experience with Mexican dentistry was very poor, to the point that it had to be redone in Canada.
I decided to move my family here, and to set up a world-class dental clinic, but at prices at least 50% below the US and Canada. I built the rooms myself, and bought all of the equipment and supplies. We use the US standard accepted practices of sterilization of equipment and instruments, and the latest supplies for great results.
We also pay the tuition and travel expenses for our dentists to continue their education and to stay at the top of their field. Our lead dentist just completed the Nobel Biocare course in dental implants and prosthetics, which took almost a year and cost us over ten thousand dollars. He is now one of the best implantologists in Mazatlan, I think there are only 3 in all of Mazatlan. He studied under Dr. Botello who is one of the best implantologists in Mexico.
Next summer, our dentist is attending the Las Vegas Institute, one of the top schools in the US for cosmetic dentistry. Here is a link to the course he will be taking.
At the end of this year, we will have a dentist from Winnipeg, Manitoba on our staff. Dr. Stanley Hyman will be semi-retired in Mazatlan, and will work in our clinic to oversee the quality of the work produced by our dentists, and will be training our dentists from his years of experience.
We will soon be adding more high-tech equipment such as digital x- rays, which produce an image in 2 seconds, and 90% less radiation to the patient and staff, as well as dental lasers for bleaching and no injection cavity preparation.
Our goal in the next 5 years is to have a dental excellence center in 5 other resort locations in Mexico, so that our patients can vacation in other parts of Mexico, and get the same level of dental care wherever they go, and their records will be transferred electronically.
For those people who have substantial work done, please contact us with your case, and we will work with you to make it happen.
Also, our service now includes plastic surgery, and weight loss in the form of the Lap Band gastric bypass. Our surgeon has been doing this procedure for 8 years in Europe before the Lap Band was approved in the US, so he is very skilled. These prices are also at more than 50% savings over the US.
We also help our patients with their accommodations, we use a timeshare exchange program, and can get places like the El Cid, Costa De Oro, Balboa Towers and others from $250/week for a room that sleeps 4.
You can contact us by dialing 1-780-701-2507 from the US or Canada, and locally in Mazatlan at 981-8236, or through our website Posted here as requested by Nick Konev from Mexican Dental Vacation.
