Mexico Route 40 , East from Mazatlan to Durango, what a ride !! This Road is very possibly one of the best twisty type roads in the world. Anyone who has driven "The Dragon" ( see: http://www.lilaw.info/the_dragon.htm ) knows the type of road I am talking about. The Dragon only has about 11 miles of twisties on it; whereas Mexico Route 40 has approximately 150 miles of twisties on it.

The downside of Mexico Route 40 is that it is literally the only road to take between Mazatlan and Durango, and Durango is the pass-thru point for traffic continuing on to Texas. Numerous trucks use the road, and passing them is both dangerous and frustrating. A toll road is currently under construction from Durango to Mazatlan, and when it is completed it should be used by the majority of truckers, which will result in a fairly empty Route 40.

Did someone say "drifting" at 6000 feet above sea level ??

The pictures on this page should "wet your whistle" for the Road To Durango !!:
