Old Business

  1. Roof. Talked a lot about roof and decision was to put the roof on hold until further alternatives are discussed.
  2. Shelter signs. Alison asked Edgar to make sure that the shelter signs were posted as soon as possible. Edgar will take care of it 9/13/06.
  3. Hotline flyers. Billie has copy and will make these up before the General Meeting.
  4. Dog & cat capacity. We discussed how absolutely necessary it is, that we do not keep animals any longer than 10 days because of the lack of space for animals. A discussion about EUing the animals.

New Business

We had in depth discussion about the Spay & Neuter Program suggested by Billie Soltis. We discussed the price difference. It was based on 50 adult cats. To EU 50 adult cats, the cost is, $150 Pesos, plus crematorium $1400 Pesos, total $1550 Pesos. To Spay/neuter/release 50 cats, mixing genders, $796 Pesos, provided we can get suture material donated, or bought in the US. This would be a difference of $754.00 Pesos per 50 cats. Dr. Juan will be speaking to the owners of the crematorium for a reduction in charges since we will be bringing in fewer animals.

Treasurer's Report

  • US Account has $17,200 USD
  • MX Account has $30,724.92 Pesos
  • Donations for August $10,380 Pesos
  • Expenses this month $7880 Pesos
  • Edgar to make a bank deposit of $2500 Pesos

Shelter Report

Dr. Juan gave Alison set of shelter keys for her and Nadine. Adoptions 5 cats, 20 dogs. Received into shelter 80 cats, 54 dogs. EU'd 50 cats, 12 dogs. Dr. Juan asked for permission to go to a conference, 22 & 23 Sept about skin and heart problems in animals to be held at the Las Flores. Permission was granted so long as he left all his bases covered. It has been discovered that when the city turns off the water, the shelter has no water to hose or clean. We want to see if someone could donate a tinoco (tonaca) to the shelter which they don't need. A fiberglass one, not cement. Alison complimented Dr. Juan on what a great job he was doing and that his improvement and performance has increased 100%, and that he is now truly acting like a professional vet. A shipment of supplies was received from Nadine, was inventoried by Juan and Alison. Now the surgery procedures will be more professional. Toilet is leaking andplumber was called. Dr. Juan was told to buy rubber boots for himself and the two other staff members. Edgar mentioned the promotion that the Radio Station was putting on a big scale, for businesses and organizations all over the city in regards to public health, to be held at Playa Mazatlan. To be decided on if cost can be reduced and shared between Conrehabit and Amigos.
