Jo Ann spoke on the shelter, about the vote from the board meeting to hire Dr. Patty Lopez to oversee the shelter . Apologized to Dr. Juan and Edgar for throwing them into the shelter with practically no guidance and hoped with Dr. Patty there, would give them better guidance. Sally & Alma explained everything to Dr. Juan in Spanish.
Dr. Juan reported that at this time there were 17 adult dogs and 13 puppies at the shelter. Received 10 in the first half month of June. In May , 10 dogs were adopted and 12 euthanized. Have adopted out 5 more dogs so far in June. Received 100 cats, 2 adopted and 80 euthanized leaving 18 cats. Dr. Juan received $10,500 pesos in donations for the month of May. So far, for the month of June, Dr. Juan reported that more food has been donated and has received approximately $2000 (pesos) in donations.
Sally Ross went over financial summary verbally as her computer had been down for several days. Checking account pesos approximately $80,000, cash pesos on hand around $2000 and the US account $15,300.
Alison reported that Star of the Week was bringing in $100 (pesos) a week, so far received $400. Alison was in charge in the Centro area and Lynn Beckman was in charge of the Sabalo & Golden Zone. Scott Beckman reported that the web site is getting approximately 1000 hits a month from the US & Canada. Scott is working on the updates and will get with Jo Ann for more information.
Jo Ann Scott gave her resignation as of October 1, 2006. She plans on working the shelter the next 3 months to get up to date and install the changes that need to be made, hopefully leaving office in very good shape for the next person. Also, the Treasurer position is open and we need recommendations, as Sally leaves office June 30, 2006. Edgar Barragan is considering, but has not given a definite answer to Sally. Voting will be done through e-mail when there is a nomination.
It was brought up that we need more advertising at the shelter for announcements and hours. Shelter should be closed on Sunday and open on Mondays. Cindi mentioned that we needed more donation boxes picked up and that David Bodwell was still trying to get a couple designed.
Ed & Alison suggested that the Belmar should be approached and possibly do an adult Pool Party BBQ as a fundraiser. Possibly get Gigante and/or Walmart to donate the meat and ask Willie Redbone to do music.
Alma reminded everyone that the Taquiza was being held Sunday, July 9 and the tickets were printed free of charge. Alma also mentioned that the Noreste was giving Amigos 4 different days a month advertising in classifieds, free for a year. Next General Meeting will be held at When Pigs Can Fly on July 12, 2006 at 7 PM Adjourned at 15
