Officers Report

Cindi reported on the Taquiza raffle: explained the baskets and door prizes. Rafael reported that he had visited the shelter unexpectedly at noon today and brought pictures showing how clean the shelter looked.

Shelter Manager Report

Daniel talked about the final preparations of the Taquiza. Mentioned that the Noroeste would be at the Taquiza to take pictures and cover the activity.

Old Business

Bingo-Nadine bought a new game and is sending it to Sally. It was brought up that there are more full-time North American residents in Centro during the summer and bingo should be moved to that area, but not on Wednesday or Sunday.

Fundraising Ideas

Carla has agreed to be the Fundraiser Chairperson and will be back in October. There were several conversations in Spanish and these were some of the ideas brought up: Colonies need to be educated about the animals, should have flyers made up and do a cross promotion with Noroeste & Tonicol. Have an Open House at the Shelter, have school house talks and have the schools do a field trip to the Shelter.

Felipe Tellez brought up that it would be a good idea to get different stores involved on the local level (ex: Gigante, Ley, Mega etc.) and get them to donate 1% of the shopping bills for 1 day or week for a shelter promotion.

New Business

It was brought up that having the meetings at El Cid Dining area were not conducive as it was hard to hear everyone over the music and diners. Should change to having meetings upstairs even if we had to change the day. Also, maybe change the place every other month to get others involved (having a meeting in the Centro area) Jan & Sally were to check into possible meeting spots.

Announcements
  1. Jan announced that there was to be a dance hosted in Vancouver for the Shelter animals with all proceeds being donated to Amigos de Los Animales.
  2. Sally is working on a summer newsletter and asked that if anyone had ideas on what to include, to please contact her.
  3. Buffi brought up that Bruno does a dog training session every Saturday from 5 to 7 PM at Pueblo Bonito on the beach.

Next General Meeting will be August 10, 2005 at 00 pm at the El Cid Clubhouse upstairs.

Adjournment @ 25 pm. 1st Cindi, 2nd Sally
