Officer reports:

Treasurer

Sally Ross reported that her computer had been down for days and went over the basics of the financial. Checking account pesos was over $80,000, cash pesos on hand approximately $2,000 and the US account $15,300. May expenses included (all in pesos) Dr. Juan $11,000, $3,300 for medications, $2,000 for property taxes through end of 2006,(need to pay in 1st quarter 2007 in February). May earnings taken in at shelter was $10,500.

Shelter Liaison

Edgar Barragan reported that the shelter received a ticket for the garbage being outside and another ticket 2 days ago for $500. The garbage had not been paid from January till May 2006 and originally was $2400 and Edgar was able to get it reduced to $1200. There has been complaints on barking, but the problem should be taken care of when we receive the bark collars which Nadine ordered. Also it was mentioned that more collars and leashes were coming.

New Business

Jo Ann brought up the problems of cleanliness with the shelter: Possible solutions: Hire Dr. Patty Lopez to teach Dr. Juan & Danny on how to care for the animals and cleanliness of the shelter. Put Dr. Juan on probation for 1-3 months, at the end of 1 month receive a report from Dr. Patty on needs of the shelter and how Dr. Juan is doing. Dr. Patty agreed to come to the shelter Tuesday thru Friday from 9 AM to 11 AM and do spot checks on Saturday, Sunday and Monday for $3000 (pesos) a month. Sally made a motion to hire Dr. Patty to be shelter director at $3000 (pesos) a month and have dr. Juan will report directly to Dr. Patty at least for a month. Cindi 2nd. Motion passed. Dr. Patty will start Thursday, June 15, 2006. The shelter guidelines will temporarily be put in place and will be fine tuned. Will wait on voting the final guidelines until fine tuned.

Old Business

Judy & Alison have not had enough time to get volunteers together. It was decided that the shelter needed to do with out volunteers at this time until Dr. Juan is more familiar with the shelter & animals. Dr. Juan's main responsibility is to learn the workings of the shelter. There was discussion on possibly taking away the truck as part of the probation period. Will decide once Dr. Patty starts at the shelter and we get her feed back. Received comments on the possibility that Edgar take over the Treasurer's position. Edgar needs to speak with Sally & Claudia first. Edgar received an emergency call and had to leave. Discussion was put off until more information could be received. Discussion on Special Gifts Coordinator and ideas. Ideas brought forth: Sending photo's of shelter and adopted animals with a special letter to donators. Have a wall of Kindness with names of donators on certificates showing what the $$ went for. Everyone was asked to think of more ideas and discuss at the next meeting.

Adjourned at 00 to start general meeting.
