Shelter report

Dr. Juan reported that in the first 15 days of the shelter being opened they received 27 dogs, 7 have been adopted and 4 euthanized, at this time there were 16 dogs left including 6 puppies. Received 100 cats, 2 adopted and 18 euthanized leaving 80 cats. The shelter ran out of medication for euthanizations. It was recommended to have a 2 months supply to start and when down to a 1 months supply to reorder. Dr. Juan received $6,150 pesos in donations during this time. Starting Wednesday at 10 AM the animals will be taken to the crematorium on a weekly basis, there are to be no more frozen animals. There is a contract for $2000 pesos monthly with the crematorium.

Financial Report

Sally Ross handed out the financial summary showing checking account pesos at $84,526, cash pesos on hand $6,710 and the US account $15,054.

New Business

Announcement made that the 2nd annual Taquiza was being held at San Fernando Trailer Park on Sunday, July 9, 2006. Alma Zepeda is heading up the committee. Judy Algara will get the life guard, Sally Ross will do the announcing and Alison offered to do face painting for the children. Alison spoke on the donation boxes, David Bodwell was to have one made so that the committee could look into how many we need depending on costs. Alison presented the color book and mentioned that there were to be about 1000 copies printed up and would sell for $30 pesos each. Also presented a pamphlet that could be given out at Vet's offices and thank you certificates for donations.

Old Business

It was brought up that the Mayor's office representative mentioned that the shelter could fill out a registration at the office for $5,000, $10,000, $15,000(all pesos) to help with spay & nuetering clinic. Have from now to March 2007 to get guidelines and Martha Armenta is working on that and alos on the Secretaria information needed to become a non- profit in Mexico. Voted on monthly meeting site. Would continue through the summer at When Pigs Can Fly. Asked for recommendations at other sites.

Announcements

Henry mentioned that there were still donations coming in since the brunch. And also asked everyone to think about getting a volunteer for Special gifts Coordinator to send thank you gifts for the larger donations.
