These are the duties of the vet on duty at the shelter, as discussed during the last Board Meeting held on August 22, 2006.

  1. ANIMAL PICK UP- Emergencies, immediately. Other calls, within 6-8 hours, depending how busy Dr. Juan is.
  2. EVALUATE ANIMAL- sick or diseased animals to be 'put to sleep' immediately or kept in QUARANTINE ROOM until put to sleep later in the day.
  3. ANIMAL POLICIES - All animals will be held at the Shelter for 10 days. If not adopted within this period of time, unfortunately the animal will be euthanized.
  4. Bathe Groom Animal before handing out for adoption.
  5. SPAY/NEUTER- All animals that are adopted, will be neutered or spayed before leaving the shelter.
  6. VACCINES- All cats and dogs that are adopted, will be given all their vaccines and de-wormed.
  7. Give New owner instruction on follow up care with vet
  8. Once the adopted animal leaves the shelter, it is the owner's responsibility to take their pet to their own vets for further treatment.
