My family and I are going to Puerta Vallerta on Jan 12-19th. We are staying at the Bleu Bay Club. Couldn't find much about the resort. Would like to hear from someone who knows about it. Any information to let us know what to see and do would be greatly appreciated. Taking 3 kids ages 16,14,12. Thank you Kathy
My freind and I went to Mazatlan last summer. It was a blast. We stayed at Luna Palace. Here we were treated like queens. The workers were very nice and polite. Luna Palace was very clean. We took a tour everyday that we were there. I enjoyed the city tour the best. If you get a chance go to the Cathedral down town, it is the most beautiful church you will ever see. the market is another place to tour...very crowed but neat. Overall I would rate my trip very high! have fun and if you see Hector at Luna Palace say hi to him!!!
We are planning a trip to Mazatlan Jan 13, 2001. We plan to stay at Vidafel. I can't seem to find much info on the web. Could you please fill us in on the resort? Good food? nice beach? night life? nice rooms? swim-up bar? I hear it is quite a ways out, is there bus/taxi service if we should want to venture out for dinner/night clubs?
Staying at the Riviera, I would like to golf can you tell me some names of any course that I could play on.
Just returned from maz and can't wait to go back . Stayed at the Riviera Beach and you could not get better service. The Staff are incredible Cudos To angel. Juarez, ernesto tony Danillea and Abel. How to describe a hotel that the staff cried when you were leaving? Loved Mazatlan, the people and the sights. If any body has any questions don't hesitate to send us an email and we will answer soonest. Adios Amigos
Just got back yesterday,Sunday,12/17/00,from a week long cruise on the Rhapsody Of The Sea. Made the stops in Cabo, Mazatlan and P.V.. The best thing we did was to rent a Suburban, there were 7 of us, and take in the sights on our own scheduel. Drivers name was Abel who spoke fluent english and was very knowledgeable. Went out to Playa Bruja to Gingers bilingual horses and went horseback riding. This was the best part of our trip. I had a horse that could handel my 250lbs and my 9 year old step-daughter had a horse she could handle. This place also had a great beach, cheap beer and sodas. Better than any tour you could take from the ship.
I am going to Mazatlan with my 3 best friends in late March for Spring Break. Just wondering if anyone has any hints on the best day cruises or sunset cruises or fun nightspots (we are all 20!) Thanks for your help! Danielle
I live in San Diego, CA and I just read about three missing children from Canada who the Royal Canadian Mounted Police believe have been abducted by their mother and taken to Costa Rica within the past few weeks. The story has been widely reported in the Canadian media, and has been featured on the hit US TV show "America's Most Wanted". After reading the story I decided to add the father's web banner to my site, TrainingCity.com. After I added the banner it occurred to me that your site offers one of the best possible chances to find these missing kids. I suspect thousands of tourists type in your web address before visiting Costa Rica, and there is an excellent chance one of them will recognize the children. Would you consider joining me in helping this Canadian father reunite with his missing children? I've included a link back to his site where you can copy the animated gif and it should only take a moment to add the link. Here's the link for some background info: http://www.rdmtech.on.ca/triplets/ And here's the html for adding the banner: http://www.rdmtech.on.ca/triplets/banner.html
We are absolutely thrilled to be heading back to Mazatlan after 5 years. We will be staying at the Balboa Towers this time and I just can't seem to find any info on it other than what's in the RCI book. Any help from your end? Here's a 'Mexico' story that we'd like to share with you folks because we really enjoy your website and look forward to using these terrific coupons in January 2001 While we were last in Mazatlan (5 yrs. ago) we stayed at the Vidafel and were THRILLED with the atmosphere, the service, and most especially, the staff (many thanks to Javier). The grounds were beautiful and the beach clean and had just the right mix of vendors who were very careful not to cross the line onto Vidafel property. Nevertheless, we noticed that our gorgeous 13th floor suite lacked enough cord length on the toaster to make it effective. We made a call to the desk and asked, in my best Spanish, which is an entirely different story, for a short 6 foot or 2 meter extension cord. We were then very diplomatically informed that "In Mexico, Senor, we do not use extension cords!" However, a service man(boy) would immediately be dispatched to our room to rectify this situation. After his inspection of the situation, he determined that he had just the cure for our problem and would return in a (Mexican) moment to carry out the necessary repairs. Well, return he did! And with the most familiar 6 foot, white extension cord in hand, a rather well-worn tool belt slung quite rakishly around his extremely thin hips, and a great big, white-toothed grin on his beaming face. Just when I thought all of our distresses were nearing there end, out of that scarred tool pouch came a rusty pair of wire-cutters that made quick work of the female end of the extension cord. That 3-outlet end was quickly relegated to a waiting pocket on the tool pouch. The young 'electrician', still grinning from ear to ear, then proceeded to strip the wires of their insulation, snip the male end off the toaster cord (remember the toaster cord?), remove that cord's insulation, twist the two wire ends together, and, while whistling a most catchy tune, wrap the entire result in genuine electrician's tape. The grande finale came with a most self-satisfied grin and an equally confident AQUI! Anyway, we are really going to enjoy our stay in beautiful Mazatlan and will get back to you sometime in February, 2001. From the 'frozen North' we thank you 'way too much' for this most useful site .... Adios y hasta luego, amigo y amiga.
What a great site! We are traveling to stay at the El Cid Marina Hotel in Mazatlan in February and this is great information! It will be my husbands birthday while we are there and NO KIDS! (And we have FIVE teenagers!) Can you recommend one of the vast list of restaurants you gave us? Thanks for all your information! Have a great holiday! Sincerely, Maggie Barclay
I am going on my senior trip to mazatlan and I am wondering what you think of Mazatlan as a spot for a group of 1000 seniors to go? Thanks-Ryan
i find your site pretty informitive but i do have one question my friends and i are planning a trip to mazatlan in a month and you mentioned on your how to get there page that there is a luxury bus line do you have the name of this bus line? thanks for you help Peter
We just spent 2 fantastic weeks in Mazatlan. This is our second time there,we went there in Nov. of 99 for 1 week and again for 2 weeks in Nov.00. Both times we stayed at the Riviera Beach Resort and we will without a doubt go back. The hotel is very clean and the staff is by far the the best. Miriam who takes the reservations made our stay a delight. Our waiters Rafael and Armando to say the least were the BEST. Our only complain would be the time sharing vultures, they are everywhere. We have traveled much of Mexico, places such as Merida, Progresso,Villadolid, Cancun,Isla Mujeres, Cozumel, Oaxaca,Puerto Angel, Puerto Escondido,Acapulco,Ixtapa,(my favorite)Zihuantenejo, and Puerto Vallarta. We have never had a bad experience and we have never been sick. Anyone going to Mexico, should have a good time. Certain precautions should be taken, the same precautions that you would use whenever traveling. You can't beat the Sun, the Surf and a ice cold Cerveza. To anyone going, have a great trip. I only wished that I could be there also.
which is better to stay at El Cid Morro Beach or Pueblo Bonito? Pueblo bonito looks prettier, but El Cid seems to be rated higher. Please help decipher.
We will be in Mazatlan for a month starting the middle of February, we have always gone to PV, this will be our first visit to this part of the country. We were wondering if anyone could tell us about interesting places we could go by bus - we don't mind staying overnight if we can arrange accommodation....Thanks for the interesting and informative site!
Visited your web site many times before our trip over Thanksgiving. It was so very helpful. Your warning about the time share salespeople was right on the mark, particularly offering us transportation to the hotel from the airport. We were accosted three times before we finally saw a real taxi. Enjoyed our stay at El Cid.
I need to find a company or hospital in Mazatlan that would be able to provide oxygen cylindars for an oxygen dependant client who is planning a vacation, any ideas?
We are planning to stay at Paraiso Del Mar for a couple of weeks this winter. Anyone know anything about this Resort? My understanding is that is next to the Vidafel. Any input is greatly appreciated. Thank you. (GREAT SITE BY THE WAY)
My husband wants a trip for x-mas. Do you have any reccomandations on the best place to stay (on water)? Also, we like to deep sea fish, who's reliable, who's not? We've never been and I would like to make the most of this trip! Sounds great!!! Please get back with me as soon as possible. Thanx!
I AM BRINGING 75 OF MY BEST CUSTOMERS TO MAZATLAN ON DEC1,2000. THEY HAVE BEEN PLAYING IN A POOL LEAGUE AT TOM & JERRY'S AND TUMBLERS POOL & PINTS, TWO BARS THAT I OPERATE IN CANADA. WE ARE STAYING ALL OVER THE PLACE RANGING FROM THE AZTECA TO THE EL CID. I HAVE BEEN TO MAZATLAN BEFORE, AND IT IS THE BEST! THIS IS AN EXCELLENT WEB-SITE, AND I HOPE IT CONTINUES TO OPERATE. CHEERS.
Harry and Nadine I just want to thak you for this great site I will be going down in Feb. it will be my 8 time . I would like to ask how long the coupons last and when they expire . I have been to a lot of different places and Mazatlan is my favorite one . The only down side is the timeshare sales people as they are realy bad . I recomend El Cid and Gus and Gus and Aces and of course the shrimp factory and Senior Frogs . The last two are a little pricey but well worth it . SEE YA Gary
I have a quick question for you. I am heading with my group to Mazatlan on January 17th for 9 days. I have already printed out all your cupons and now I am wondering how long they are good till? I only found one coupon on your site that had an expiry date but it has made me wonder. Also will there be new ones starting in January? Please let me know about this matter if you can. I really would appreciate it. I love your site and have read every word you wrote. It will be my first trip to Mexico and I can't wait to go!!! Your site was wonderful, very helpful and the cupons will come in handy. I have printed out a set for everyone in my group and think they will come in handy as most of them are for places on my list of places to go. Thanks a bunch and I hope to hear from you soon. Have a great Christmas!!! Tammy Beck
I am using your site in spanish class for a project that i am doing and i find your site very resourceful. I'm presenting this to the class and my fellow classmates realy like Mazatlan. Most people thought they would like Alcopolco or Cancun better but their resources weren't as good as mine were. Thanks A Million, Justin Brown
My wife and just returned from Mazatlan. Like so many others, we are ready to return and probably will in Feb. We were staying at the Hotel Playa which I really like, but we bought a condo in Mazatlan this year at Playa Escondida by the new marina and we thourougly enjoyed it. There are several rental units there, so if anyone wants a nice, quiet place to stay with beautiful grounds, a nice view, a pool and tennis court.......I can recomend it. I would like to thank Henry and Nadine for the information on their web site. It along with some advice from friends who own property there made our purchase go very easy. My wife and I have been going to Mazatlan since 1988 and have enjoyed it more and more each year. If anyone would like to ask me about it, I would be glad to help as time permits me to answer. Thanks again, Mike
We are just back from Mazatlan and a stay at the Oceano Palace. I have to agree with Nicole from Abbotsford in a previous message..a few pesos dropped here and there for the waiters and the cleaning staff are much appreciated, and is reflected in the service! Appreciation is give and take anywhere. This was our 8th trip to Mazatlan...we usually stay at a different property each time, and...we've never had a negative experience. The Oceano is undergoing a good renovation, and will be back to its 'pretty self' soon. Although this is rated a 2 1/2 star property, ...for the money you spend...you're laughing!
We are coming to Mazatlan the first two weeks of December. Is there an area of beach which is a good place to find sea shells. Any information someone could give me would be appreciated. Thank You Lane Whitmore
We were thinking of spending Spring Break in Mazatlan. I wanted to go somewhere warm (since I know I'll be sick of the snow and cold by then), and somewhere where I can drink (since I'll be the only one in my group a couple months short of 21). How about telling us about some cheaper hotels to stay in. We wouldn't be in the hotel much, basically just to sleep in. So it doesn't have to be anything glamorous. Please let me know. Thanks.
Just got back from a great week in Mazatlan and I am missing it already! Hot weather, blue skies....Stayed at the Oceano Palace which wasn't too bad. It definately wasn't a 3 star hotel but the rooms were clean, the food was good, and the staff was helpful. Humberto (bartender/waiter) and Jamie (waiter) provided excellent service the whole week we were there. Its amazing that giving a couple pesos for a tip will ensure that your glass is never empty! The beach outside the hotel was gorgeous with clean sand, hardly any rocks in the water...and no seaweed (being from BC that is a big thing for me). Don't expect to change your traveller's cheque's at the hotel though. They never had ANY peso's available. At least there is money exchange place right across the street. (Trust me...don't bother with the banks) Also they have an internet cafe next door for those people that need their daily emails!! Bartering with the venders was alot of fun. You get to know them quite well, and while they can be annoying at times, you haven't seen pushy people until you go to the Market or Stone Island. The open taxi's were alot of fun to drive around in. You can go just about anywhere for 30 pesos...Make sure you barter your price before you get into the taxi. We paid one of the taxi drivers 200 pesos (about $20 US) to take us for a 2 hour tour around the city. Adios!!
A group of friends have been going to Mazatlan for Thanksgiving for over 20 years and have always found it and the people gracious and a lot of fun. Just found your page and will mark it as a favorite. It is the best descriptive and informative page I have yet seen concerning travel and, in particular, this location. Keep it up.
When is the rainy season? We are talking about early March? Also what seasons would hurricanes appear? Thanks, Nanci
My husband and I are going to Mazatlan the first part of December to celebrate our 20th Anniversary. Can anyone tell me about experiences with deep sea fishing charters--who's the best and who to avoid? What tours were tops? We are staying at Pueblo Bonito and have heard great things. Anything special or food we must try during our stay? We leave within weeks so please respond soon. Thanks. Terry
I am trying to find in the Internet the hotel PARAISO DEL MAR IN MAZATLAN, no pictures in there so please if you have anything about this hotel you be in touch, I will appreciated it Iam going to be in Mazatlan next week!!! please e-mail ASAP!! PICTURES OF THE HOTEL IS IMPORTANT FOR ME DO YOU HAVE ANY REFERENCES OF THIS HOTEL??
I am confused about the location of Paraiso del Mar, which is where I'll be staying with my family late next week. A map from this web site shows it located by the Luna Palace but the directions indicate that it is part of the Vidafel. I'd appreciate any comments at all about the Paraiso del Mar. We've never been to Mexico and look forward to the trip. Thank you - Judy
I would like to know where I could get a very detailed map of the city so that I could plan our walking tour of the city without having to back track because I missed something. If someone has one I would gladly pay the postage. Thanks you can e-mail me and let me know if you have one.
Hi there, you'll find this kind of strange but here goes. My daughter, Samantha is down in Mazatlan, she's living in an apartment in the Golden Zone. She doesn't have a telephone and I don't know the name of the apartment building. She usually calls once a week and now it's been 2 weeks. I'm really worried about her. She's with a Mexican family that she has known for about 8 months. When she calls, she calls from a street phone with our phone card which is great but now she hasn't called. Could you advise me on some channels I could go through to try and find her? She's been selling jewellery for her friends to tourists in the market. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. We get along really well so it's not a relationship problem as to her not calling. Thank you, a worried mom.
Using my daughter's email address while visisting her in Seattle this week. I have no computer at home, yet! We have one at our business and our finally online. So I will get my own email address. But for now, I want to say how much we love Mazatlan. I purchased a timeshare at the Pueblo Bonito while on a trip with some friends. I had hoped it woould get my husband to take a vacation once in awhile. Well it worked. He absolutely loves it in Mazatlan, and the Pueblo Bonito. What a beautiful resort. Beautiful grounds and rooms, nice staff and wonderful beach. We have got to know one of the bartenders and cabana boys well and they treat us like royalty. The food at Pueblo is divine, and so are the drinks. We reccommend it highly. My husband is so pleased with Mazatlan that he wants to move there. I think just renting a place for the winter months would be fine. So we are interested in any advice. We've heard of some great deals with a maid and everything. We will be retiring in a couple of years. One drawback. Timeshare sellers are everywhere, now even in the restaurants. It get annoying. I heard it was worse in Cabo, but I can't imagine. It's like HELLO we have one already. Anyway, I highly reccommend Mazatlan to everyone. Thanks Nadine and Henry for all the info.
We are planning a family vacation with our two you children to Mazatlan. What can you tell me about the Oceano Palace Hotel? Would you recommend it for a family with children. Thanks. PE p.s. Any other tips re: Mazatlan are greatly appreciated.
We are trying to plan a 2 month stay in Maxatlan from early Jan to the end of March 2001. We need a studio apt. with a small kitchen.Have check out all of the Hotels, but reg. rates are out for that long. Any ideas on how to secure an place to stay? If we get our plane tickets and the first week in a hotel what are the odds of finding one. You can see from where we live why we want to get away. Super information at your site and adjoining links. Kay and Jim
DOES ANYONE KNOW THE SURFING (LONGBOARD) CONDITIONS IN AND AROUND PUERTA VALLARTA? I AM GOING IN DECEMBER. IS IT WORTH BRINGING A BOARD? TIM ROBERTS
We are planning our 3rd visit and were having trouble finding the dates for carnival-our calendars here are short on such info. We are coming back because even though Gary uses a wheelchair we have managed pretty well. Azteca Inn has ground floor rooms. The cabs are easy to get in and out of, and there are many ramps in the Golden Zone. There are improvements possible but we have not seen another place in Mexico that beats it for accessability. Cheers John & Gary
My family goes to Mazatlan twice a year and we stay at the Camino Real. We have enjoyed staying there and have recently found out it is no longer a Camino. Can you tell me who bought Camino Real out? We love Mazatlan and your web site is very informative. Thanks, Janice
Henry and Nadine, It is so undescribable how good and excelent of a job the two of you did by putting this website together! Be Proud! I've been to Mazatlan five times and every time I go it's better than the last, from dancing at Valentinos to chillin' on the beach, and bunggie jumpin' Mazatlan is my HOTT SPOT in this world. I've been searching for a website for people to visit about Mazatlan, but I never seem to find one-yours changed all of that!!! Your website is well edited and awesome, keep up the good work, I absoultley love all the pictures!!! Sincerely Yours, Diana
This page was cool! I had to do a report on Mazatlan and I came here and found a lot of information, and my report is long. One day I maybe could go to Mazatlan and go to one of the beaches. I have never been to a beach before so I wish I could go. Great Page, keep up the good work Sincerely, Rachel
I took my family (wife and 6 kids) to mazatlan in June right after my oldest graduated from high school we followed the advice found on this site and had the best vacation ever. We even rented one of the houses listed here and it worked great. My wife and I are going back Nov 3-8, 2000 (in a couple of weeks) for our anniversary. Any tips on romantic things to do there would be appreciated. She also wants to scuba dive and I haven't found any information on where/how to do that.
wondering if anyone has stayed at the Riveria and if it was okay ,also if stone island is a good time. Please if anybody has input let me know we have not booked our trip yet ,thanks!
Henry, I can't thank you enough for the information in your web page. My wife and I had a ball. We were amazed at how nice the people were and how low key it was for a resort. I took your advice and didn't worry about the water, or the food. I deliberately went looking for things that I'd never eaten, and enjoyed everything. I didn't get sick until I got home and ate some American fast food. Kinda makes you wonder, huh? Thanks again for great advice.
We are looking for an English speaking scuba diving shop in Mazatlan. Can you recommend a reputable shop that we can get our scuba diving certification? We will be visiting Mazatlan soon.
Dear Nadine and Henry, We have been coming to Mazatlan for a month in the winter for the last 3 years.Your web page helped me to give the name of your dentist to a friend last year, with great results. I now find that I have to be on oxygen at night, and when ever I am walking due to much radiation, lung cancer. What I would like to know is oxygen available for rent at the Sharp hospital? If there is an English speaking person that we could call at the hospital? I copied your entire web site and gave it to many of our friends and has been so appreciated by all. Sincerely, Mary F. White
Hi Henry and Nadine! We're returning again in February - and can't wait. Can you please tell me how to get to the Juarez market from the north end (La Marina)? I understand it's lots of fun to go there, really good variety and cheaper than most? I look forward to hearing from you. Take care. - Lori

I'm heading down Nov 3-10 with my sister and her 2 kids. Anyone have experience travelling down there with kids? (ages 4 and 5) My younger girlfriends advise not to, but I think it will be a blast with them. We got a pkg at the Riviera hotel. Anyone know about this place? Hope to see you there! A word to Nadine and Henry...I will drop by your house with a donation to the Animal Shelter personally in that week. I support several in this country as best as I can.
Where would I find information on locating the tourguide you recommend?
planning a vacation for the winter, have resevations at a place called Paraiso del Mar, have had no luck finding any info about it, all and any info would be apprieciated. Thanks for creating a web site for Mazatlan Iam sure it will be helpful in our travels
Information good or bad at Pueblo Bonito resort?

Our family is in the process of planning a holiday in March 2001, we are trying to find somewhere to stay without having to go the package way(expensive hotel and flight deal). We are trying to find a small 1 bedroom suite(we have two kids under 12) with kitchen facilities. I found places in my Frommers Guide, Apartments (Apartamentos)Fiesta, Del Real Suites and Inn at Mazatlan. Is anybody familiar with these places? Does anyone recommend trying a place of the beaten path with kids. We really don't want to pay resort prices. Is it safe to call the hotels directally to book accommadations? Are we sure of a place when we get there if we do? Lots of questions, but we really want an enjoyable holiday without a lot of scarey surprises! ANY information e-mailed to me would be most appreciated! Thanks for any help.
Dear Nadine and Henry - your website is, as uaual, outstanding. Thank you for keeping it going - I look at it every year before I go to Mazatlan! I was reading about Sharp hospital and the medical care there. I had to laugh and wanted Nadine to know that I haven't found any George Clooney's at our hospitals here either. Too bad. I will be coming down in November. I would like to donate to the Amigos de los Animales, so hope that I can just mail my donation to your San Diego address. If not, is there a way I can get it to you while I'm in Mazatlan? Please let me know. Your site is an inspiration - keep up the great work!
HI, we are taking the Carnival cruise from LA Oct 8. In the short time we are there(which is most of one day) please recommend a few sights we should not miss. Would it be a good idea to rent a jeep? I can't find anywhere the average number of daylight hours for that time of year in Mazatlan, Puerta Vallarta or Cabo. Thanks for your input!
We just spent last week (9/9-9/16) in Mazatlan. I had printed much of the general information from your website and took it with us. We tried some of the restaurants you suggested and even some of the dishes you recommended. All of your information was invaluable. It made our time in Mexico enjoyable and care-free. Thanks for all the tips.
Hello Nadine and Henry, Your web site is great!! So much information WOW. I have just few questions that I couldn't find on your web site. We are traveling 11/11-18/00 to Mazatlan with 3 other couples staying at the Vidafel Mayan Palace Resort. Do you have any information on this resort? Also, we are all golfers any places you could recommmend? Thank you.
I'm going to Mazatlan on Dec.26-Jan 2. I want to know what inexpensive, yet fairly nice hotel to stay at. What's the Las Palmas like? or Hacienda Mazatlan? It doesn't matter if I stay on the beach. your input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Jana
Hi Henry, your site looks better and better. Congratulations! Do you remember you were going to mention CENTRO DE IDIOMAS (the language school) or put a link on your site when we got our home page? Well, we finally did. It's at www.go2mazatlan.com/spanish We cannot trade links as we discussed before, but we do mention your page in the Departure Memo we send everyone who's coming down to study - that's because it has the most complete and accurate information on Mazatlan that we know of. Best regards, Dixie
Me and my grad class of 2001 are going to mazatland in March of 2001, we are all looking forward to it if there is any information or pictures you could give me on the Casa da Ora Hotel or the nightlife around it than please e-mail me.

The toll road from Monterry to Torreon and Durango are they very expensive to travel on with car and trailer . pedro
I was wondering if you could tell me anything about a place called Olas Atlas. We are travelling with our family of 7 adults, 3 teenagers and one under 12. The pictures that we are seeing are beautiful. We are new at booking over the net and are wondering how reliable the travel agency is.It is through Sunset Worldwide. Any information about the property or the agency would be really helpful. Thanks.
We are going to Monterrey for a friend's wedding and then popping over to Mazatlan for a few days. We have never been there and your site has been a great help. A friend is letting us use their timeshare exchange. QUESTION: ANY COMMENTS ON OUR CHOICE OF RESORTS--LAS FLORES OR HIDEAWAY BEACH RESORT?

I am planning to get married in Mazatland in January 2002. I was wondering if anyone could recommend, accomodations, for myself and family. Also maybe a wedding consultant that can take care of some arrangements for me. It would be good if the accomodations and the consultant are together. Also, This doesn't have to be a resort, something smaller with the same benefits of a resort is fine too... Please email with any info that can help Thanks Robyn Maltais
Dear Henry and Nadine We have been traveling to Mazatlan for 15 years now and love it. In fact we celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary and renewed our vows in the penthouse suite at Torres Mazatlan. We have enjoyed your site and made use of your coupons and recommendations for several years now, so we have seen and enjoyed the growth in your website. Well done. Thank you.
I traveled to Mazatlan this summer with my best friend and it was the WORST experience of our lives. It took approximately 5 hours to finally get there. After we arrived I got food poisoning from room service from the El Cid Resort. The next day I had $80.00 stolen from me from the maids. The people there were very rude. After that we decided to have fun no matter what. However, there was not that much to do unless you are a deep sea fisherman. We could hardly wait to get home the day we arrived. I have been to Cozumel two years in a row and that is the best place thus far to vacation in Mexico. The people are nice and you feel save no matter where you go. I would reccommend vacationing in Cozumel at the Paradisus Hotel. Marci :0)
Just wanted to thank you a bit belatedly for your very helpful website. We stayed at Vidafel during school vacation week in February. We managed to get to Ernie Tomatoes, Senor Frogs, Panama Bakery, Terraza Playa, and Mister A's. We couldn't get over not just the wonderful and reasonable food but the outstanding service at these restaurants and everywhere we went! It was almost like the waiters had ESP--they anticipated your every need! We have traveled quite a bit, mostly to resort locations and have NEVER had such superb service and attention! At Ernie Tomatoes, the bartender sent over free drinks to us because I wasn't smiling ( I was a little worried about our 16 year old daughter and her friend who were walking around shopping and attracting a lot of male attention!) We danced on chairs at Senor Frogs (my daughter thought someone had stolen her real parents!). We had a romantic evening (the two of us!) on the "terraza" at Playa Mazatlan, dancing to romantic live music, watching the Sunday night fireworks and enjoying a great meal and cocktails. All four of us had a late night pastry at Panama--delectable! And we managed to sneak away for another dinner for two at Mister A's, where the owner came to our table to personally inquire about our meal. Thanks again for all your good advice!! We'd go back to Maz in a minute!! P.S. Loved the pulmonias!!
Hi! Im going to Mazatland next year and i was wondering if there are any good places to go surfing in that area. Thanks
Would dearly love to come to Mazatlan as we have a timeshare at the Vidafel resort. However, getting there is something else. Is it possible that we could get a flight to San Jose del Cabo, then fly to Mazatlan? Otherwise it looks as if it would be at least three flights from our location. And I'm beginning to loathe airports! You have a very interesting site and I enjoyed exploring it. Katherine
Hi. You have a great site. However, I didn't find exactly what we are looking for -- which is a home/villa for rent that can house four adults and three children. My family and some friends of ours are trying to plan a weeklong vacation next February. Any suggestions that may not have made it onto the web site? Thanks! Ilana
I am trying to find out if the Marina El Cid Hotel & Yacht Club are close or are part of the El Cid Mega Resorts. The maps I've been able to locate do not clearly indicate where these hotels are located. I have phoned around as well and have not received any clarity on this. If anyone can help with this or know of a site that would indicate this to me I would appreciate this. Thanks Robin
VISITING MAZ FOR SECOND TIME NEXT MONTH. WHERE O WHERE CAN WE FIND PREPARED HORSERADISH TO PURCHASE???
I am moving to Mazatlan aug 24th to attend school. Upon arrival I will be staying with friends. I am looking for a more private residence for the duration of my stay witch will be until mid january. I am attending classes at the Universidad de Ocidente. Any one that has any usefull information please pass it on. I am also very interested in the surfing conditions, I am bringing my board, hopefully in one peice. Email me at nathanlowrie@hotmail.com
Thank you, Henry and Nadine. Of course, after printing out reams of your info, I left the pile of papers home. Still, I retained enough to have made excellent use of some of your suggestions and information. We stayed at the El Moro tower of El Cid resorts. The accomodations were excellent, and the entire staff was friendly, polite and helpful. The food there is excellent, by the way, and they have loads of activities going on all day for all ages. We stumbled on Gus-Gus the first night, and, for our first meal at a Mexican restaurant were duly impressed. For under $20 we had so much food and drink that we brought leftovers back for the next day's lunch! Plus, after 8:30 p.m. they have a live band that plays classic rock (as opposed to the canned Mexican stuff we got most other places). Cilantro at the Pueblo Bonito Ressort is another excellent restaurant, though slightly pricier. Their green salad was a surprising treat for the tastebuds even without adding any dressing! The fish dishes are top notch. We went on several tours - Copala, old Mazatlan, Stone Island - so we were busy all the time. We went to Copala the day of the big storm in the morning which turned out to be smart - we didn't have to sit around the resort moaning about the lack of sun, because by the time we got back the sun was out! The reason there are so few people from the eastern US and Canada (we met one guy from Florida) is that there is no direct flight. Changing planes in Houston meant killing most of 2 days traveling. the powers that be at El Cid said that there should be a direct flight from the NY-NJ area within about 2 years. I sure hope so, because Mazatlan is definitely a place I want to return to! Again, thank you for so thoroughly preparing us for a phenomenal experience.
am planning on going to Maz Thanksgiving week - does anybody have any feedback on Pueblo Bonito or Playa Mazatlan? We're 2 parents and 5 kids from 15 to 23. Thanks!
Just got back from Mazatlan, it was great. We go two times a year if possible, own a condo and have just bought a lot in El Cid to build a home on the golf course. Thanks for all the good information I have collected from Nadine and Henry regarding everything I should know. Can't wait to start building, and retiring there.
Hello all you Maz lovers! We check this page regularly and love getting the info from you all and thanks Nadine and Henry for allowing us Maz lovers to communicate. It seems, though, that our last comments were somehow erased from your comment board so we will add them again since its always helpful to share good fortune with others. As of last March, you could golf at the El Cid even though you may not be staying there. All you have to do is phone them to book a time or ask your hotel hospitality clerk to do it for you. The El Cid is a lovely course. Has anyone spent Christmas and New Years in Maz? We would appreciate feed back. We've been to Maz several times but never then. Also, has anyone ever taken the bus as a self tour? Any suggestions would be appreciated also. Thanks all, and hopefully this entry will stay put long enough to get some replys. And to all of you who are just counting the days till you see that wonderful city again...........ENJOY!
sorry , I spelled it wrong on the last letter. :O)
Will be at this location from Feb.25 to Mar. 10. Has anyone any comments on this hotel?? I cant find anything on it at all. except an outside picture. Pool doesnt look big, but I see the Vidafel pool is great.. Appreciate any response. Thanks. Gage Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada
It's been a week and a half since returning from beautiful Mazatlan. I want to be there right now (it's cold in this Country!) Thank you Henry and Nadine for the wonderful website, all of the information was so helpful, we even used some of the coupons. I certainly will be returning (bought into a time share at El Cid!). I must do a countless number of tours still. Really enjoyed the Stone Island Tour and the trip to Copalla. I don't think that I have met a nicer people than those in Mazatlan, they really do make you feel comfortable and safe. Just a hint for those looking for a place to stay, we stayed at the Las Palmas before moving to El Morro, beside the beautiful courtyard, the walls are paper thin, and when you have party animals next door to you, you may find it very hard to sleep before 5 in the morning. I can't wait to book my next week, or two, or three!!!
Jan 19, 2000. Hi! Inquiring minds want to know what is the cheapest way to Mazatland? I plan on leaving on within 2 weeks but I need to know which is the best way! Thank you Adrian Mitsuing
April in Mazatlan was fantastic, stayed at beatiful HOTEL PLAYA iit it dosent get any better than this. The locals are incredile, and the mexican women the prettiest in the world here. The booze cruise is to die for, and i almost did, whoa what a boat ride. The ribs at No name cafe were the best not to mention there bloody mary's. Well gtta go , already making reservations to go back next april this time with the kids. ADIOS,JOE AND ALICE LABANSKY SALEM OREGON.
My first trip to Mazatlan will be 3/31 what will the weather be like? also I'm staying at a Vidafel Property any comments?
Hola Amigos! Only 18 more sleeps and we will be back in marvellous Mazatlan for a month. I'm really enjoying reading people's comments about new places to go, eat, etc. Thanks Henry and Nadine for providing this excellent medium of communication! Two questions: 1. What is the rate of exchange for pesos to Canadian dollar right now? and secondly, We are staying at the Playa Escondida - we've always heard really good things about it but lately we've heard some less-than-positive remarks. Comments anybody?
To the gentleman that is wondering about the vidafel my family has been going there for a few years and they love it, I have seen several pictures and it is beautiful, we are leaving Jan 17th for a week at the Vidafel, this will be my first time. Thanks to all that share thoughts and recommendations this site is very informational.
I just returned from Mazatlan and thought I would send some feedback. First of all the Torre Tropicana is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in in my entire life (and having travelled to 17 different countries, I think I'm a fairly good judge). It's noisy, not very clean and the constant stream of time share sales people is awful. Sure -- ask me once if I'm interested, but the same person asking me two times a day every day gets really tiring! Besides that - the walls are paper thin - lying in bed we could hear every word of the conversation going on in the next room. Add to that the screaming drunks from the other floors and it is intolerable. But don't even think of asking Canada 3000 to help you move to another hotel. Lori couldn't care less! But other than the hotel we had a blast. Every moment out of it was a lot of fun. The boat cruise to Stone Island, renting mopeds, playing in the surf, walking around the old Mazatlan - all great! However -- the best meals that we had while we were there was at Los Piratos. You won't find it on the main touristy areas - you actually have to step outside the norm! I don't have the actual address on me -- but I can give directions. When standing on the front steps of the cathedral down town and looking at the park, turn right on 21 Marzo and walk approx. 2-3 blocks. (I think it is the street after 5 Mayo). It is on the corner, painted blue and yellow with a big Corona sign painted on it, and a plastic Pacifico sign off the side. They play 60's and 80's music and the deep fried shrimp basket is absolutely amazing. The shrimp practically melts in your mouth. Service is second to none (mainly due to the fact that we were the only people there), and the beer is much cheaper than in the hotel zone! DO NOT MISS THIS RESTAURANT!!!!! Just thought I would share!
I SPENT 5DAYS AND 4 NIGHTS AT THE MOST BEAUTIFUL RESORT ON THE ISLAND, PLAYA MAZATLAN AND I RECOMMEND IT TO ALL WHO ASK. THE CLUBS ARE AWESOME, AND THE SEAFOOD TO DIE FOR. TRY ASKING ONE OF THE HOTELS ABOUT THE ALL DAY BOAT TRIP, IT IS USUALLY ABOUT $20 AND IT IS ALL YOU CAN EAT AND ALL YOU CAN DRINK. THE TRIP IS WORTH IT AND THE FOOD IS GREAT....
This is my first day back at work. (Coffee without Kahlua, interesting concept!) We spent 15 wonderful days in Mazatlan and wanted to thank you for all of the great information, you helped us make certain we didn't miss anything new since our last trip. A few observations: Panama serves up several of the greatest breakfasts I've ever had. The Morning Roll for 2 is fantastic! Sunday morning NFL and breakfast at No Name Cafe (the El Americano breakfast) was also great. Thorney's Surfburgers was a real find! Great burgers, nice people! Pueblo Bonito was magnificent as usual. Superior service in a beautiful environment. The people of Mazatlan are some of the friendliest and kindest people in the world and I should know having traveled in 15 countries. We're already planning our return in 12/01. At one point, I almost faxed home to tell them to "sell stuff, send check and dogs!". Someday I will. Thanks again for the wonderful site. I'll keep checking in.
Dear Nadine and Henry, Thank you for all the useful information about Mazatlan on your web site. My wife and I and two other couples just came back from a visit there. We went down on the 29th and returned yesterday the 3rd of January. This was the fifth trip to Mexico for my wife and I, but we had not visited Mazatlan before. We loved it. Pluses: 1. Aeromexico from Phoenix was outstanding. On prior trips we had flown America West, Alaska Air and Mexicana. Aeromexico was the best of all. AM had modern, well maintained (we are Boeing Quality Engineers) equipment and the service was excellent. 2. Almost all the food was marvelous. The single exception was our hotel breakfast (see negatives below). 3. In all instances, we found the Mexican people friendly and courteous, and there is less pressure for time share sales than in Cabo or Puerto Vallarta. 4. Shopping was outstanding with a better variety of products and far more stores. 5. The "Gringo Wagens" (my term for the open air taxis) were a fun, inexpensive way of getting around town. 6. One of the wives became ill with the flu, most likely contracted prior to the trip. A doctor was called, she was picked up by ambulance and admitted to a small clinic (I don't know the name) and hospitalized with. The facility, its medical staff and the care that she received was excellent. Negatives: 1. Our hotel was the Oceana Palace. It's the worst hotel we've ever stayed in in Mexico. The service was very poor and the facility is in a terrible state of neglect. There were many other guests who were also expressing their extreme dissatisfaction with the OP. Further, my wife and I travel extensively and have visited more than 30 countries around the world, but the OP is the worst place we've ever stayed in. Even the nondescript little Hotel Mar De Cortez in Cabo with no TV was more enjoyable. My letter of complaint will be going to Best Western's corporate headquarters, the details of which are far too voluminous for this medium. In summary, we suggest that you consider this information for inclusion in your web site. 2. We would never go back to Mexico (especially Mazatlan) at a time that coincides with a school break. There were scores of Canadian college students in the OP and the nearby Double Tree who partied loudly around the clock. We were able to get only about two hours of sleep during the night of the 2nd. 3. Restaurant Los Canoes. The beach location is terrific and there was no loud disco, just Mexican music in a (Mexican) family atmosphere. And the food was to die for. Again, we loved Mazatlan and will be returning as soon as possible. Next time we'll be wiser and select a better hotel. What is you best recommendation? Sincerely, Fred & Sally Kuykendall Gold Canyon, Arizona
