I think your website is great. Seeing your house and the story of how you met is beautiful. I am also a big animal lover and I loved all the photos of your pets. I am coming to Mazatlán in January on vacation and on business. It will be my first time on the pacific side. I have a business here and I come to Mexico to buy product. I had heard of a place north of there that makes beautiful handmade doors with an old volkswagen motor as their power. Would you have knowledge of this place or would you know anyone that does. I have a retail store that carries garden, architectural salvage, antiques, furniture and all kinds of things and am looking for product especially those doors or antique mexican things. Where should I stay The b and b or El Cid . Karen

Hi there, I'm not sure who I am actually addressing, however, if anyone is familiar w/ Mazatlán, and some of the local places and/or people, maybe you can help me out. Myself & hubby & 2 of our friends, also a couple, were in Mazatlán for 8 days 11-24 to 12-2-07. It was only our 2nd time in MX but we had made friends/acquaintences(sp) on our previous trip, & were able to meet up w/ them briefly this time around too. There's a man named "Lacho" who generally stands or works in front of a local bar named "Munchkins" which is across the street from Pueblo Bonito. He is with the Grand Mayan Sea Gardens Resort located right down the road from where we stayed at Torres Mazatlán. Unfortunatly, all we know is the name "Lacho". No last name, no contact address or manager or supervisor to contact to let them know of their employee. If anyone knows Lacho, or how we can get a hold of him, or some one at the resort he works for (sales for time share'condo's at Grand Mayan) it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a bunch in advance! Sharon & Steve

Hi Nadine and Henry, We will be visiting Mazatlán for the first time in January and staying for a glorious month. Your website has been a treasure trove of information. Thanks for taking the time to inform us first time visitors. One thing I would love to do while I'm there is to have a private authentic Mexican cooking lesson from one of the locals. Can you help me out? I'm not looking for a professional chef, just someone who cooks good food for her family and speaks some English. Hope you can help! Angela

Nadine and Henry, I have used your coupons for a few years now. We always have fun finding the places on the coupon. It seems we're never able to use them all. We share them with others and they're always happy to get them. Sometimes we'll share them with people in the same restaurant we're in, they are always very thankful to get them. We'll be t El Cid Marina the first 2 weeks of December. Maybe we can meet you somewhere for dinner. I'll be checking my email while I'm there, let us know if you'd like to get together. I love Mexico and hope to spend even more time down there. Where did other find monthly rentals?

Hi Nadine and Henry, We went to Maz in July and found your site a useful guide for the city. We did have a couple of bones to pick with you. 1. It appears that you don't take into consideration that *some* crazy Americans just *might* come in the summer. So, things like the Champagne Breakfast North of town don't happen during the summer! 2. You could use more information on the divers. We showed up in the afternoon and there was no one there. It was really unclear on how it worked. We finally figured out that to see someone dive, you have to plan on spending an hour or two hanging out down there in the evening until enough people are them to contribute money. Or, you have to pay them all by yourself. We were very frustrated by the lack of information (even from the locals) on how this whole thing worked. 3. I'm not sure where you were getting your prices for the Cambios, but when we arrived in Maz I didn't find any of them that were listing the prices that you had on your site the day before. 4. I think it would also be worth telling people that there won't be many Americans/Canadians in the summer. Didn't bother us, but I know people it would bother. 5. Most of the places you recommended were quite good as was the service. However Los Arcos was so-so and the service was pretty lousy. Just FYI. By and large your site was good and really helped us prepare and know what to expect. Thanks for all that you put into the site. It was cool to get some info on Mazatlán.

We have been going to Mazatlán for about 30 years. The last three times we went (last time February 2006) the water is so high there isn't any beach to walk until noon or after at the Playa Mazatlán area. When I ask them about it they say it is normal but we have gone in January, February or March whenever we went and it seems to be worse every time we go. We are thinking of staying at the Inn at Mazatlán or El Cid so we can walk the beach in the morning next time. Is this global warming and why don't they tell you they have to notice the change since most of the beach is gone.

Is this something that happened with your site or is it my computer? How do I fix this, I am looking for property and this is the greatest site. thanks for your help.

Hi: I was in Mazatlán for 3 months this year staying at the Marina del Rey and the year before we also stayed for 3 months in a house at Villa Tranquila both the north end of town. So as you can see we really enjoy Mazatlán and it feels like home to us. Gustavo from El Arte redesigned an amethyst and diamond ring for me this year, it was absolutely awesome and if you have a chance to see him, please tell him that I will treasure it forever. In response to Ms Hartman .... bull fighting is part of Spanish and Mexican culture. You don't have to go to the bull fights. If you don't go to Mazatlán for this one reason, you are missing out on a beautiful Mexican city full of beautiful Mexican people. Not every one goes to the bull fights. I believe there are more people (tourists and locals) going to the winter baseball games.

Great website. I have referenced it for the past several years. We purchaed at Pueblo Bonito Emerald Bay in 2003. Things have changed considerably since our first trip. Due to the restaurant price increases at Emerald Bay, we venture out. With three children, we didn't want to go far. However, we really enjoyed The Purple Onion. It was close to the Pueblo Bonito Mazatlán shuttle. The food was good, prices reasonable and live band Wednesday and Saturday was great. We also went to Munchkins. The first night there, the timeshare sales were out of control. The next visit we decided to tell them up front - no sales. Much to our surprise, there were no timeshare people. Maybe because it was Sunday evening? Who knows. We happened to be there on week two of Spring Break (Easter vacation). Lots of people. We will try to avoid that next time.

We just returned from a wonderful week in Mazatlán and took you up on many of your recommendations - thanks! Here are some comments and recommendations for you and others as well. We stayed at Torres which was beautiful and offered a nice relaxing setting. Very family oriented and had a community feel to it. Our favorite restaurant was the Guadalajara Grill and we would challenge your low 4 star rating - it was excellent and interesting (we recommend the shrimp chimmichanga appetizer)! Our second favorite was probably El Shrimp Bucket - it was worth the trek downtown and offered a beautiful sunset as well. Good seafood, especailly the shrimp of course. Another restaurant we liked a lot was Los Zarape's, it was also excellent (you do not rate it, but we recommend you try it!). The food was fresh, well-flavored, and tasty. Our biggest recommendation in terms of activities was The Mazatlán Jungle Tour. It was an informative look into the flora and fauna of the area as well as the industry and a wonderful meal cooked by Stone Island residents. Thanks for all of your insights and tips!

Your terrific!!! Love your sight. Plan on being in Mazatlán the month of April in hopes of finding the right property for retirement. Your site has been very helpful. Now we all know that every culture has a different tempo. However, my question is this: I have contacted several realtors about their listings. Only a few have answered (even when I've emailed again). That's not to say all. Some have been very keen on follow-up. Since I have been in the business here in the states, it seems like folly for these folks to advertise and then not follow through...especially when one checks AMPI listings. It looks like inventory isn't moving. What's happening? The market appears to be in a slump and no one is doing much. Any suggestions?

We'll be leaving for Mazatlán on Saturday!! Could you tell us if there are money exchange places scattered about the city, and where would be the better places to exchange our money while there? Also, what seem to be the most current exchange rates? Thank you. Your site has been SOOO helpful! ~~MB

We usually stay at the La Marina Tennis & Yacht Club, but cannot get the week we want this year. I know El Cid is to the south, but I am looking for a place to rent north of the marina close to La Marina. Can you give me any name. We are looking to go Mar 9 -19,2007 Thank you.

We found your website quite informative and utilized the places to dine. We would like to inform you that we did encounter a bad experience at the Casa Loma restaurant on the evening of Jan 02, 2008. The food appeared great and the sevice was good. Our waiter had been working their for 22 years. However, 4 hour after eating, 4 out of 6 of my family became violently ill. This ruined the remaining days of our 1 week vacation. We attributed it to the water/ice cubes as the two healthy members did not touch the water. I called the restaurant the next morning to inform them and they had already received 5 other calls with the same concerns. They indicated they were trying to get to the bottom of this. I would recommend others to stay clear of this place. If you hear of what the problem was/is I would appreciate knowing. Thanks for your website but wanted to let you know.
